What or who got you started in Bluegrass? I have listened to bluegrass music for the last 10 years rather intensively. I’d have to say the earliest, most memorable experience was seeing Bela Fleck, Tim O’Brien, Tony Rice, Stuart Duncan, and Mark Schatz in Columbus, Ohio. They tore it up! Where were you Born? Maysville, KY How old are you? 29 What kind of instrument do you play? Taylor C-30 guitar; Lark Fiddle Who is your favorite Bluegrass singer? Probably Peter Rowan, but Dan Tyminski has a great bluegrass voice, too Do you have a favorite Bible Verse? If so which one is it? Genesis 1:29 What do you like to do in your free time? Reading, gardening, playing and listening to music, spend time with my family and dogs. What is your most memorable moment while playing? Once I got the chance to play tamboura alongside Kardik Seshadri, one of Ravi Shankar’s sitar disciples. This was an incredible, foreign, refreshing experience. If you could meet anyone who would it be and why? I would like to meet Wendell Berry and discuss the importance of small-farm agriculture in our world today. He is a renowned expert on this topic and a fellow native-Kentuckian, which would make for easy conversation suppose. What do you enjoy most about playing? I enjoy the formation of a unified sound and those moments that result from everyone just “clicking.” There is nothing like the feeling that you and your band has just created something unique and special and shared it with an audience. | |
